The Never Ending Story of Elizabeth and DarcyRomantic fiction is considered one of the most liked and best selling categories in fiction books.Arguably the most legendary couple ever to be written about and without question the relationshipwe all attempt to achieve however never entirely do, is that of Mr and Mrs Darcy.I imagine even Jane Austen herself couldnt have imagined the impact these two characters wouldhave to this day and that they would remain in people’s hearts and minds for always. One book, one story was never ever going to satisfy.Fortunately, a number of writers agreed with this sentiment and started to write what are frequentlyreferred to as “what if …?” stories. For example, what if Mr Bennet had passed away andElizabeth had accepted Mr Darcys original marriage offer as a way to secure the future of the restof her family. Would their relationship have been as intense? Would she be able to put her feelingsto one side and marry him anyway? There are many books written that generally stick to the essence of the classic story “Pride andPrejudice”. The stories are retold in such a way as to keep all readers of romantic fiction novelsenthralled by the characters of Elizabeth and Darcy and even though many of the situations arealtered the characters remain more or less the same. There are lots of romantic fiction authors today which continue to keep us enchanted by thiscouple and despite moving away to some extent from the original story, Darcy and Elizabethalways wind up together and very much in love. Lets face it, it would be heartbreaking to see themgetting divorced or perhaps worse, finding and marrying somebody else! Some of the authors that have written a number of these books are Abigail Reynolds, Kara Louiseand Linda Berdoll, however the list of writers whove taken to rewriting almost certainly the mostromantic fiction story ever produced is getting longer by the day.Its a shame that Austen did not create a sequel to Pride and Prejudice herself and letting us all inon what happened to the Darcy’s after marriage as seen through her eyes, nevertheless theresbeen a great number of them since. Aided by the growing popularity of “Fifty Shades of Grey”,erotic fiction has even caught up with Elizabeth and Mr Darcy in “Fifty Shades of Mr Darcy”.Darcy and Elizabeth engage in an incredibly passionate marriage in some of these romantic fictionbooks but with minor twists in the storyline and the introduction of a number of new and different
characters into the world of the Darcys, along with many of the old ones, these special novels areextremely imaginative and enormously compelling page turners. Its impossible to become boredwith the numerous diverse storylines, events and characters which merge nicely to produce acompletely new version of an old story. One of these romance fiction novels, Mr Darcy’s Voyage by Kara Louise, was chosen as my initialforage into the world of Mr & Mrs Darcy, however if you prefer a lot more passion then you cannotfail to enjoy Mr Darcy Takes a Wife. Its an untamed and passionate story produced by LindaBerdoll which cannot help but induce you to read the continuation of the Darcy saga in Darcy &Elizabeth, Nights and Days at Pemberley.Ive since read quite a few of these books of fiction, which I am calling “Darcy books" and amtotally hooked on this pairing and appreciate the excellent story telling or maybe I ought to say theretelling by these writers. Many of these books bring to light a more loving and licentious side tothe Darcys and then others keep up a more refined romantic liaison. Even so, they’ve all to datebeen absolutely unputdownable. In my considered opinion, many other books about The Darcys should be produced as theirs iswithout a doubt a story everlasting.
