To add to the excitement, Long Island teen Rachel Goldsmith was crowned 2015 Miss Teen
New York International. Her yearlong service commitment will be dedicated to promoting
awareness of teen depression. She will be walking in solidarity with the LI/Queens
NAMIWalks on May 2, at Jones Beach.
“I walk with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) to put a face on teen depression.
I want my peers to know that they are not alone. There is no shame in having depression. The
only shame is in keeping it quiet; tell a friend, tell a parent, tell a teacher…get help. There is no
need to suffer in silence,” shares Goldsmith who created UWILLBOK.com to giving struggling
teens a safe place to share.”
