PRESS RELEASE ON A CORPORATE ACQUISITION 1 JULY 2015
COMP-AID, PT-KESKUS, SUOMEN PROTEESIPALVELU AND REHAMED MERGE TO BECOME A
LEADING OPERATOR IN THE ASSISTIVE DEVICE SECTOR IN FINLAND
The new CompAid Group will operate as a strong service provider for customers and stakeholders. The
companies being merged have a largely shared customer base, and their ranges of assistive devices and
health care supplies complement each other perfectly. The personnel in each company also have
competencies and experience complementary to each other, which provides the personnel with
opportunities to learn new skills and develop on their careers.
As part of the rearrangement, CompAid Group, consisting of the current Comp-Aid and PT-Keskus, will
acquire Suomen Proteesipalvelu Oy and Rehamed Oy. The parent company of the new group will be
CompAid Group Oy, and PT-Keskus Oy, Comp-Aid Oy, Suomen Proteesipalvelu Oy and Rehamed Oy will
continue to operate as its independent subsidiaries. Mika Paavola, CEO of CompAid Group, has also
been appointed as CEO of Rehamed Oy and Antti Airasmaa, former CEO and owner of Rehamed Oy, will
continue as adviser to the group. Marco Storti has been appointed as CEO of Suomen Proteesipalvelu
Oy. Pekka Paasivaara, the previous CEO of Suomen Proteesipalvelu Oy, will continue in the service of
the company as member of the board of directors. In addition to Petteri Mäki, the newly formed group
will be principally owned also by Sponsor Capital. The corporate acquisition will not affect the current
customerships, vendors or staffs of the companies.
“With this arrangement, we also aim to significantly strengthen our organisation throughout Finland.
We will invest in high-quality customer service and expansion of operations. Our vision is national
growth by means of provision of robust competence in assistive devices, health care supplies, and
prostheses at a local level. Our strong vision and desire to develop novel customer service concepts,
and valuation of the competencies and contribution of our personnel give us a strong foundation for
continuous growth,” says Petteri Mäki.
“The new entity has extensive competence in assistive devices, health care supplies and hospital
equipment. The company is in excellent positions to meet the needs of our customers in every stage of
the care chain,” says Antti Airasmaa, former owner of Rehamed Oy.
“The new entity has excellent starting points to meet the hardening challenges of the market and to
deepen our co-operation with our customers with a more comprehensive approach. It will also ensure
the future of the companies involved in the more and more integrated assistive device sector,” say
Pekka Paasivaara, Harri Oikarinen, Peter Kaske, Karl Lindfors, Tarvo Ranta and Marco Storti, the former
owners of Suomen Proteesipalvelu Oy.
“From the customer’s perspective, the added value the new group offers finds concrete forms in
optimal assistive device solutions, ease of doing business, and local presence. The assistive device
business continues to develop rapidly and the need for expertise is increasing. Therefore, we challenge
our competitors with customer-oriented service and the best competence within the sector. For its
valued vendors, the new group is able to provide increased market reach both in terms of customer
face time and power in public tender rounds” comments Mika Paavola, CEO of the Group.
In the financial year 2015, the combined turnover of the Comp-Aid Group companies will be
approximately 15 million euros, and the number of personnel about 55 people.
