  • 2. DCS3033 LIGHT CONSTRUCTION Kinetex is an advanced textile composite flooring that combines key attributes of soft- surface floor covering with the long-wearing performance characteristics of hard surface flooring. Created as a unique floor covering alternative to hard surface products, J+J Flooring Group’s Kinetex encompasses an unprecedented range of attributes that render it an ideal solution for corporate, retail, healthcare, educational and institutional environments. In addition to its human-centered qualities and highly functional design, Kinetex offers a reduced environmental footprint compared to traditional hard-surface options. Kinetex is a soft surface floor covering intended for use in place of hard surfaces such as vinyl composite tiles in medium- to high-traffic commercial applications. These 24" x 24" semi-rigid tiles are 0.20" thick, compared to 0.25"–0.60" for standard carpet tiles, and are engineered with a wear layer made from solution-dyed PET that resists staining or bleaching and is woven for abrasion resistance and durability. Kinetex is made from 60% recycled content (50% post-consumer PET sourced primarily from water and soda bottles) and, unlike carpet, can be ground and processed into new backing in one step without costly material separation and sorting or loss of performance. Kinetex is treated with perfluorinated compounds to resist dirt and improve its lifespan; note that these chemicals persist in the environment and may have long-term environmental impacts. The key to the high-performance attributes of Kinetex lie within its construction. Each layer, when used together, creates a versatile, lightweight, soft-surface flooring designed with qualities parallel to that of hard-surface. 2.0 HISTORY Page 2

Kinetex is an advanced textile composite flooring that combines key attributes of soft-surface floor covering with the long-wearing performance characteristics of hard-surface flooring. Created as a unique floor covering alternative to hard-surface products, J+J Flooring Group’s Kinetex encompasses an unprecedented range of performance attributes for retail, healthcare, education and institutional environments. In addition to its human-centered qualities and highly functional design, Kinetex offers a reduced environmental footprint compared to traditional hard-surface options. The key to the high-performance attributes of Kinetex lie within its construction. Each layer, when used together, creates a versatile, lightweight, soft-surface flooring design with parallel qualities to that of hard-surface. 4.2 Why We Use Kinetex? The construction industry is moving towards becoming green and sustainable. As Kinetex had much advantages on using it. High performance and low maintenance is the main reason why we has to use Kinetex floor covering alternatives. Installing Kinetex is as easy as traditional modular carpet, however special attention should be applied until installers gain experience with module placement. Kinetex provides an ideal environmentally friendly option to many areas where hard-surface would typically be used. Due to its lower mass, Kinetex has a 50% lower environmental impact compared to other commercial floorings. With no less than 55% recycled content, Kinetex is NSF/ANSI-140 Platinum certified. In addition, Kinetex is easily recycled into the next generation of itself - as easily as an aluminum can. 4.3 Types Page 5

  • 11. DCS3033 LIGHT CONSTRUCTION 5.0 BENEFIT  Kinetex is tough to wear out but easily cleaned.  While wet, it has a highly reduced slip-coefficient when compared to a wet hard surface.  resists the most challenging staining agents, such as blood, urine, betadine and hand sanitizers. 5.1 Advantages Durability • With outstanding dimensional stability and crush resistance,Kinetex has withstood over 5 million foot traffic events with minimal wear at a popular Florida-based entertainment venue. • That equates to more than the total number of people who have attended every Super Bowl since the first game, 49 years ago. Maintenance • Kinetex cleans easily with vacu-uming, encapsulation cleaning or hot water extraction(in areas prone to heavy soiling). • It retains less water than carpet and therefore dries quickly. • Bleach resistant and resists the most challenging staining agents, such as blood, urine, betadine and hand sanitizers. Health Page 11
  • 12. DCS3033 LIGHT CONSTRUCTION • Kinetex easily surpasses California’s 01350 requirements or low-VOC emissions and substantially minimizes airborne particles by sequestering common allergens, irritants and dust. • Easily sanitized and has very short drying time when cleaned. Safety • Resistant flooring surfaces ever tested, wet or dry. • minimal rolling resistance, potentially reducing injuries from pushing and pulling Comfort • High-density backing • soft textile surface provides exceptional anti-fatigue properties along with minimal rolling resistance. Acoustic • Highest noise reduction coefficients. • Impact insulation classifications. Sustainability Page 12
  • 13. DCS3033 LIGHT CONSTRUCTION • 50 percent lower environmental impact compared to other commercial floorings. • 55 percent recycled content. • easily recycled into the next generation of itself. 6.0 DISCUSSION There are a few problems that we found about this product. The role of flooring in the spread of infections is uncertain. Peer-reviewed clinical studies directly relating flooring to Page 13
  • 14. DCS3033 LIGHT CONSTRUCTION HAIs do not exist. The CDC classifies flooring as non-critical in HAI prevention since flooring only comes in contact with intact skin. The CDC also classifies flooring as a low- touch surface and states that, as a low-touch surface, flooring does not require disinfection beyond normal cleaning and sanitization. Nevertheless, all healthcare surfaces, including flooring, should be resistant to solutions of bleach, quaternary ammonium salts and other common sanitizing agents used to clean biological spills. As for health, it can't help to cure heavy virus such as Denggi, HIV, or SARS. This is because Kinetex floor product only can help protecting legs bone and intact skin if you step on it. Others problem than healthy is cost. It hard to find this product in Malaysia because the main factory is in Europe. So this factor can cause our nation slower in technologies then others on Green-Building concept. Otherwise it will effect the cost, because it is $4.72 per sq-ft. If we can convert it to RM it will be RM 14.16 per sq-ft. Kinetex has a significant cost advantage over hard-surface floors, a critical factor at a time when administrators, managers and others are operating their facilities on greatly reduced budgets. The life cycle cost of ownership -- defined as the cost of flooring materials, installation and maintenance over a seven to 10-year period -- for Kinetex is approximately 51 percent less than rubber flooring, 33 percent less than LVT flooring and almost 55 percent less than VCT flooring. This offers substantial savings over the life span of the flooring installation. 7.0 CONCLUSION Based on our research on latest product, we can conclude here, Kinetex is an Page 14
  • 15. DCS3033 LIGHT CONSTRUCTION advanced textile composite flooring that combines key attributes of soft-surface floor covering with the long-wearing performance characteristics of hard surface flooring. Then, we can also conclude here, To reduce slips, trips and falls, flooring should be stable, firm, and slip-resistant. In areas where high spillage is likely, it should be impermeable and easily cleaned, with texture to prevent slips. It must be tested for optimal performance under different conditions (wet/dry/greasy). Unnecessary changes in flooring surfaces, especially in areas with limited visual field, should be avoided, and thresholds should be low to adhere to ADA standards. Joints, seams, and high contrast in flooring patterns should be minimized to reduce trip hazards. Most important, appropriate finishes and cleaning procedures should be used, in keeping with manufacturer recommendations, to ensure that the flooring performs as intended. To reduce noise levels in areas with high footfall noise, such as corridors, flooring should have high sound-absorbing properties and low sound-transmitting properties while accommodating roller mobility and balance. The floor finish and the subfloor structure in healthcare facilities should mitigate noise levels transmitted by an impact in an adjacent space, such as a footfall or cart rolling. 8.0 REFERENCES Page 15
