Pomona  ID1  Portfolio  Checklist              Fall  2011    Use  this  checklist  to  help  you  develop  your  ID1  course  portfolios  in  the  Sakai  Instruction  Services  project  site.  There  are  four  phases  of  the  portfolio  process  –  pre-­‐instruction,  in-­‐class,  post-­‐instruction,  and  end-­‐of-­‐semester.       Pre-­‐instruction  tasks     1) Upload  syllabus,  assignment  prompts,  and  any  other  course-­‐related  materials  you  receive     to  Sakai  ID1  course  folder     2) Upload/link  to  any  course  materials  you  developed  (e.g.,  LibGuides,  assignments,     handouts)  to  Sakai  ID1  course  folder  for  this  course   In-­‐class  task     3)  Ask  students  to  fill  out  this  survey  during  the  last  few  minutes  of  the  final  class  visit:       http://tinyurl.com/ccl-­‐id1studenteval       Post-­‐instruction  tasks     4)  Fill  out  a  three  question  reflection  (in  Sakai  ID1  Resources  folder)  and  upload  to  Sakai       5)  Email  survey  to  faculty  soon  after  the  final  instructional  interaction  with  their  class:       http://tinyurl.com/ccl-­‐id1facultyeval     End-­‐of-­‐semester  tasks  (after  student  work  has  been  completed  and  before  winter  break)     -­‐-­‐-­‐  Send  an  email    to  faculty  with  two  requests  [see  prompt  below]  -­‐-­‐-­‐   6)  Complete  the  end-­‐of-­‐term  library  instruction  survey:     http://tinyurl.com/ccl-­‐id1facultyendofterm     7)  Request  examples  of  three  representative  research-­‐related  student  assignments  (poor,     average  and  exemplary)      Email  prompt  for  end-­‐of-­‐semester  tasks:    Greetings,  ________.    Thanks  so  much  for  involving  me/us  in  your  ID1  course  this  semester.  It  was  [[**the  most  incredible  experience  of  my  natural  born  life**]].  In  an  effort  to  improve  the  way  we  support  these  courses,  this  year  we  are  assessing  the  Llibrary’s  contribution  to  student  learning  in  ID1.  Toward  this  end,  we  have  two  requests  for  you:      1)  Please  complete  the  following  end-­‐of-­‐term  survey:  tinyurl.com/ccl-­‐id1facultyendofterm    2)  If  possible,  please  provide  three  examples  of  student  research-­‐related  work  (poor,  average  and  exemplary)  via  email  or  intercampus  mail.  You  are  free  to  redact  names,  and  be  assured  that  these  assignments  will  only  be  viewed  by  librarians  in  the  context  of  a  post-­‐semester  retreat  geared  toward  evaluating  the  Library’s  impact  on  student  research  output  in  ID1.      If  you  have  any  questions  about  our  assessment  efforts,  please  contact  Char  Booth  (char_booth@cuc.claremont.edu)  or  Gale  Burrow,  (gale_burrow@cuc.claremont.edu).
