• 2. “ After human beings left the paradise of Eden. Building works have never ceased, with a hope of obtaining a paradise of happiness again. However, no matter what we endeavor to build, we have not succeeded to build a place we can call paradise. This ambition continues.” (Botton, A. “2006” The Architecture of Happiness (p.3) “London: Hamish Hamilton Ltd”) The Architecture of Happiness From : www.creationtips.com drawn by anonymous
 • 3. “… Walpole had spent £20,720 in turning Strawberry Hill into “the most celebrated Gothic House in England in 1748” (The Waldegrave Strawberry Hill in Architectural Review, September 1957, pp 157-61.) Can building give happiness? Since 1748 until Walpole’s death in 1797, he never stopped to restore and transform the building. After Walpole’s death, Strawberry Hill was purchased by seven different owners and is now at a state close to collapse. http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/realmedia/news/strawberry_hill.ram Strawberry Hill – No villa can compare

(From wen wei news http://paper.wenweipo.com/2008/07/07/OT0807070001.htm ) - Hong Kong is ranked 63 out of 98 countries/regions in the life satisfaction survey conducted in 2008. • 6. "The results clearly show that the happiest societies are those that allow people the freedom to choose how to live their lives," Inglehart said. (The World Values Survey based at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research. )
 • 7. In the present situation, one feels that there is a sense of loss amongst people. They may be leading very busy lives, doing things they do not necessarily wish to do or need to do but are dictated by other people’s wants. Their lives are controlled by the media, entertainment industry, information technology etc. However, many religions encourage people to think about what they really need in life, how to live at the present and how to prepare for their after-life. Preparing for the after-life is a very important part of every religion, because it will influence how people live at the present. People living in cities do not have the time/space to think what they really need. Photo took at 9.30pm in Hong Kong
