Established in 2001 as a patient-led charity, the NationalRheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) has spent more thana decade helping the 677,000 people living in the UnitedKingdom with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). More than 400volunteers work throughout Britain in order to provide acommunity for those living with RA while concurrentlyadvocating for greater visibility for the disease.
  • 3. The NRAS offers a number of services designed to helppeople with RA, including local support groups, a phonehelpline, and informative publications. The NRAS flagshipeffort has been the promotion of RA self-management,and the organization has worked with the Expert PatientProgramme in order to develop pilot programs to helpthose with RA learn how to manage their conditionthrough lifestyle choices and coping mechanisms.
