The assembled cluster core of ZNO blocks stacked with end electrodes inside a FRP structure or embedded like filament winding over the ZNO stacked assembly which form a rigid mechanically strong module. The ends of assembly are covered with stainless steel end caps duly encapsulated. The MOV discs are combined with aluminum end electrodes and are encapsulate in a high strength composite wrap insulating material on most modern assembly line using strict quality control process that eliminates manufacturing variances. The composite collar is cured to the MOV discs stack to form a solid insulation MOV discs module system, which is further encapsulated with silicone housing. This exclusive manufacturing process ensure an absolute moisture seal to the overall assembly of Surge Arrestor which makes the arrestor imperious to moisture and capable of withstanding extreme electrical environmental and cantilever load conditions. The composite wrapped technology like ours is the most reliable & time proven concept. The silicone based polymeric housing protects the ZNO discsPOLYMERIC HOUSING from the effect of weather, withstand all environmentalMATERIAL conditions including pollution, UV, Ozone, canons, rain, heat etc. without failure & avoid flash over for wet & dry AC conditions as well as the residual voltage during the surge arrestor. The hosing also thermally cycles with ZNO discs to maintain a moisture seal without any loss of performance. The non- tracking, erosion & weather resistant properties of silicone electromer have been successfully proven in the accelerated field tests. These silicone housed surge arrestors are most successful installations & provide excellent service in heavy polluted & sea coast locations all over the world. The polymeric housing material in our design of surge arrestors is silicone elastomeric material which is used as outdoor insulation material for more than 30 year from now , with excellent service experience even under server climatic & environmental conditions with performance on records, today, it is among the most widely used material for HV outdoor equipment. Silicone is highly hydrophobic. While there are many alternative choices for polymeric materials with similar initial hydrophobic properties, but most of them loose their hydrophobicity after relatively short period such as EPDM alloy rubber or some polyolefin based compounds. But the time proven fact claims that silicone rubber is the only elastomeric polymer which is capable of maintaining its hydrophobicity throughout the entire life time.
