  • 1. PRESS RELEASE For immediate release Issued: May 11, 2009 Vodafone lowers rates for mobile across borders Starting June 15th, one low rate for business travellers in 15 European countries. As of June 1st, SMS rates for 42 countries already lowered to €0.13 for consumer market customers and €0.11 for business travellers. 10 June 2009 - Vodafone offers even better deals on roaming for enterprise customers and for consumers. The introduction of Vodafone Europe will enable Vodafone Netherlands business travellers in 15 European countries to make mobile phone calls and use mobile internet on their laptops for the same rate they pay in the Netherlands. For consumer market customers and business travellers using the Passport scheme, the SMS rate has already been cut by 50%, effective 1 June 2009, to €0.13 for consumers and €0.11 for business users. Vodafone Europe For the enterprise market and its business travellers, Vodafone is launching Vodafone Europe (www.vodafone.nl/europe) on June 15th. This new subscription will enable business users to make mobile calls and use the internet on their laptops in any one of 15 different European countries, including the Netherlands, all for the same rate. With Vodafone Europe, customers can work anywhere within these 15 European countries, whenever they want, without having to worry about extra costs! That’s because this subscription is based on fixed prices, no matter where the customer is within the Vodafone Europe zone. Lower SMS rate Under its Passport scheme, Vodafone has already lowered SMS rates for consumers from €0.29 to €0.13 (incl. VAT), effective June 1st. For Business Passport users, the price came down from €0.35 to €0.11 (excl. VAT). These are the rates the European Union has set, effective July 1st, for sending text messages from all EU member states. At Vodafone, this new lower rate already applies in all 42 Vodafone Passport countries (http://www.vodafone.nl/passport), including Turkey, Japan and Australia.
