Through the dedication and continuous reassessment of our processes and procedures we
will endeavor to provide the best service with the highest degree integrity. It is the mission of
NAA to offer our customers and end users quality tooling and parts with the best service and
response time in the industry.
North American Aviation, Inc. (NAA) is a privately owned composite tooling and part
fabrication facility located in Wichita Kansas.
Upon the inception of NAA in 1992 growth was based on composite tool fabrication. The
rapid growth NAA has seen over the past several years has been due to the addition of
composite production part / assembly fabrication. Although cyclical in nature, the highs and
lows of the tooling business have been mitigated by production fabrication.
The owners have done a remarkable job growing the business from the small shop it was
founded as 22 years ago to what it is today. With our continued growth, we have acquired
like-minded, growth-oriented individuals who share a common vision of what the company
can be. With a diversified product line and expanding customer base that includes major
airframe OEMs, interior completion centers, and major OEM suppliers, managed properly,
NAA will continue to grow and gain more market share.
Business of the Company
Origin and Facility
North American Aviation, Inc. (NAA) began 22 years as North American Tool Company
(NATCO). Formed by Rod Gerlach and Dan Robertson, NATCO fabricated composite
tooling for Boeing, Lear Jet, Cessna, Beechcraft, and most of the current composite interior
shops located in Wichita.
Nearly 10 years ago, NATCO purchased its current building, formerly occupied by a
composite fabrication company, and changed its name to North American Aviation, Inc. At
that time, NAA continued to fabricate quality composite tooling and expanded into composite
Located on 15 acres of land north of Wichita Kansas, NAA occupies 2 buildings totaling
approximately 33,000 ft2
used for tooling and part fabrication. The Production (main)
building houses offices, a conference room, and composite part production. The Tooling
building, completed in August 2007, houses the Tooling and CNC departments.

Mission and Goals
The mission of North American Aviation Inc. is to offer our customers and end users the
broadest possible variety of composite tooling and parts with the best service and response
time in the industry. In an ever increasingly competitive business with increasingly tighter
cost and schedule constraints, NAA has taken great strides to improve overall performance
and value to the customers.
Keys to NAA Success
NAA owes much of its success to the extremely dedicated workforce it employs. Our
workforce displays a can do attitude and are incredibly dedicated to the company.
Another key to NAA’s success has been its ability to ‘perform miracles’ as our customer
Cessna was quoted as saying of us. NAA has an outstanding track record for doing what
would be considered by others to be impossible given schedule constraints, difficult
requirements, and our customer’s expectation of a high degree of quality at a reasonable
price. The Cessna mock-ups are prime examples of NAA’s ability to deliver a high quality
product in an incredibly short period of time.
Existing Business / Current Customers
NAA fabricates various types of composite tooling and parts and provides CNC machining
and trimming for a wide range of customers several of which are listed in the table below.
Cessna Aircraft Company
Dassault Falcon Jet
Associated Air Center
There are several other companies for which NAA does business but the amount of work
done for them is minimal compared to the work done for the companies listed in the table
above. Among the more interesting and challenging projects are carbon fiber “kick out
panels” for, NHRA top fuel dragster teams and a set of showers for (2) GE Global Express
XRS’ completed at MidCoast Aviation (St. Louis).

NAA continues to focus on its mission statement and has committed the time and resources
to providing our customers with the service they deserve. The fruit of this labor has been in
the form of additional business from new and existing customers. As we continue to
improve in the service of our major customers, our other customers are also seeing the
benefits as a result of the overall improvement in the efficiency of our operations.

Our enhanced performance with our customers is directly tied to our managers’ commitment
to serve their customers, both internal and external, and the dedication to continuous
improvement by our workforce.

To aid in the manufacture of tooling and assist part trimming, as required, NAA operates a
combination of several computer controlled routers.
NAA purchased two new 5-axis routers within a year of completing the new tooling building
which have greatly increased our machining capacity. A 3-axis router has recently been
refurbished and updated with the same brand of controller used on the other 5-axis routers.

NAA Engineering has the ability to use models/data sent in various software formats. NAA
uses CATIA V5 and MasterCam X for its engineering and CNC programming.
NAA has been an AS9100 compliant company since 2007 and has scored well in its annual
surveillance audits. All products produced by NAA are digitally compared to the original
engineering configuration for accuracy per customer defined tolerances.
NAA has extensive experience in the manufacture of composite and aluminum tooling.
Since the company’s beginning, NAA has been providing tooling for aircraft OEM’s that
include Beechcraft, Cessna, Falcon Jet, and Boeing. In addition to this, the composite
parts/panels that NAA fabricates are built on various types of tooling depending upon
several factors including but not limited to part run/volume, program type
(prototype/production), and program lead time.
Our employees and management staff are very talented and are experienced having
working at Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, Cessna, Beechcraft, Learjet, Senior Composites,
Precision Pattern Inc., Nordam, PCI NewCo, P-Fab, among others.
NAA has a competitive advantage in being able to provide quality products with excellent
customer service. Since we are a local, privately owned company, we only have to answer
to our customers and are able to provide lower cost solutions while at the same time
providing the highest degree of workmanship and quality.
In addition to this, NAA is not tied to just one major customer like many of our competitors
and therefore we are able to give our customers the attention they deserve. As our Quality
Policy states, North American Aviation, Inc. will endeavor to provide products and services
that meet or exceed the requirements and expectations of our customers.
