Roy Dimoff, President and CEO
Nancy Phillips, COO
Dimoff, a Canadian by birth, began his entrepreneurial career in audio teleconferencing, then as
an Internet provider before transitioning into the full suite of solutions and hosting options with the
launch of ViaWest in 1999.
Why the sudden change in direction? Dimoff’s vision was in colocation and had the gumption to
make the vision reality as Dimoff got the company off the ground with just $1.7 million, extremely
modest compared to data center giant Verado’s seed capital of $1 billion. The initial data center
was only 5,000 square feet and was cash flow positive within the first year.
ViaWest would eventually progress to large—but not epic (remember Dimoff’s wisdom)—
proportions, acquiring 15 companies in 4 states while getting two additional data centers off the
ground (Denver and Salt Lake City) and securing $34 million venture capital in all throughout the
process. One of the companies—and data center facility—it bought it in the grand sweep was
Verado. While its upbringings may be modest, its profit percentages aren’t; ViaWest has
experienced compound annual revenue growth of 25 percent since 2000. And customer
satisfaction and worker moral couldn’t be better. An independent survey by ccIntellect gave the
company a 95 percent customer satisfaction rating, unheard of in Denver’s tech industry. And the
Denver Business Journal profiled ViaWest as one of 25 companies that were awarded "best place
to work for."
ViaWest represents a new generation of managed service providers. Operating on the philosophy
that collaboration is critical to providing the optimal combination of managed hosting, co-location
and business continuity solutions, ViaWest works in partnership with its clients to develop cost-
effective solutions designed to address their unique IT requirements. With a solid data center
infrastructure and 24x7x365 support provided by a top-certified technical staff, ViaWest can deliver
100 percent network, power and systems uptime. ViaWest operates six data centers in four states
and reports significant year-over-year revenue and profitability gains since its establishment in
