THE CASE OF GEORGIA GEORGIAN NAP on 1325 Objectives  Support participation of women in security and peace- building  Consideration of women’s needs in conflict prevention  Protecting women affected by conflict and war from the physical, social, economic and political threats  Prevent sexual and gender based violence against women in the conflict and post-conflict situations  Addressing special needs of women in war/conflict and post-conflict situations

THE CASE OF GEORGIA  Participation of women at decision-making level in conflict elimination, prevention and management processes  Protecting conflict affected women’s human rights; ensuring their physical, social, economic and political security  Consideration of women’s needs in conflict Prevention and elimination of all forms of violence against women especially sexual and gender based violence
  • 4. THE CASE OF GEORGIA  In 2014 elaborated and approved MoD Gender Equality Strategy  The Gender Monitoring Team, established in 2014  Identified 42 Gender Advisors

THE CASE OF GEORGIA  Seminars on Gender and UN Resolution 1325 in for MoD and GS Senior Officials  Training on UNSCR 1325 and following resolutions as part of the pre-deployment trainings for the peacekeepers  Accomplished Gender Audit I phase: MoD legal acts analysis, data analysis II phase: interviews with heads of Units III phase: working meetings

THE CASE OF GEORGIA Planned Activities (2016- 2017)  Implement the recommendations we have got based on Gender Audit to support gender equality in MoD/GAF;  Implement the activities according to the National Action plan, International Commitments and MoD Gender Equality Strategy;  Conduct regular monitoring and reporting to the First Deputy Minister on Gender Equality and UN resolutions implementation.  Continue Gender Advisers trainings and monitor their activities during 2016.

THE CASE OF GEORGIA Planned Activities (2016- 2017)  Broaden gender module in National Defence Academy and formally include the module on Gender in Operations in pre-deployment trainings.  Establish effective Complaints Mechanisms within MoD/GAF;  Broaden cooperation with international (UN, NATO, DCAF) governmental (the Parliament, Public Defender`s Office) and non-governmental organizations;  Raise awareness on UN 1325 resolution, gender equality, rights of women, domestic violence within Armed Forces personnel.
