  • 1. Listening & Discerning Evangelistic Approach Prototype Brian Barela Goal: To help believer discern whether or not a narrative or systematic Gospel presentation is appropriate The problem: It’s often difficult to discern whether the person being shared with is thinking in light of story. I’ve sometimes missed connecting with a person because when I use a narrative Gospel approach they are caught off guard because they have never thought in light of the whole. Intro: Describe your ideal birthday? Who is there, and what are you all doing? Transition: Tell me about your last birthday. How did it measure up to your ideal? Pivot Point for the Believer: Discern the connection between the people and events that the hearer described, and pose that connection to them for feedback. If they resonate with the connection, proceed towards a more narrative Gospel approach. If they do not resonate with the connection proceed towards a more systematic Gospel approach.
