In October 2012, she participatedin a National Academy of Sciences (NAS) workshop entitled, “UnitedStates Air Force Strategic Deterrence Capabilities in the 21st CenturySecurity Environment.” Captain Kulisch gave a presentation called“Non-Traditional Approaches to Deterrence.”
  • 3. National Academy of Sciences (NAS)The NAS is a not-for-profit organization of scholars. It was born froman Act of Congress, enacted into law by President Lincoln in 1863. Itoffers objective and independent thinking on scientific and technicalmatters. Members, voted into the organization by their peers, arechosen based on excellent research in their respective fields. Almost500 NAS members are recipients of Nobel Prize awards. Theorganization’s journal, Proceedings of the National Academy ofSciences, was founded in 1914; today it is recognized as one of theworld’s finest publications of original scientific research. This yearmarks the organization’s 150th anniversary.
