Press release wpi 470 / 1112 Area: Condition monitoring systems Easy and intelligent vibration monitoring Essen, November 2012 – The new, easy-to-use vibration sensor from ifm electronic exactly monitors, displays and records vibration values. A display with colour change in traffic light colours shows machine conditions at a glance. The newly developed unit "VNB001" is the first member of a new series of vibration sensors. The compact sensor monitors online the overall vibration condition of machines and plants according to ISO 10816 and features an on-board time-stamped history function as well as data logging and trending – all this directly on the machine. The sensing principle is based on the tried-and-tested efector octavis technology, which can also be used reliably in mobile applications. The sensor measures the effective vibration velocity in mm/s or in/s. Measured value and switching status are indicated on the LED display. Critical machine conditions can be signalled using two switching outputs or one switching output and one analogue input. As an alternative, the sensor can be powered via USB interface and used as a handheld device. The product also convinces due to its rapid and easy handling and set-up as the parameters can be adjusted directly on the device. No additional configuration software is required.
