Politics- is it another job option for me?
Doctors, Engineers, Health Specialists, Architects, well do Politicians count on a good job
prospect for me, where and whom can I ask?
So I finished my studies and as any middle class parent would do, coax me to find a job
before finding a boy. Along with the million other students aspiring for a MNC stable job, I
am left with two options. Look forward to slaving towards a multi-billion company hoping to
make some billions along the way, or follow my dream and do whatever I wish without the
I stumbled upon an interesting job vacancy- Come join us – The Great Indian Politics.
The word politics is synonymous for power, position and respect in the Oxford dictionary.
While in India, if translated it means corruption, dark, gloomy and low self-esteem. What
has changed so much, that geographical boundaries have impacted a word so much?
It all starts with the freedom struggle of 1947 and the battle that began once Indians got
freedom. While young political leaders of the country were involved in their own struggle to
be represented in the political say, the senior law makers were too busy. Over time, power
got so greedy that money and power were only seen.
And fast forward to 2014 General Elections. While nothing much has changed for the
election season: Politicians screaming “I will help, please help me” and jobless
demonstrators following them in hope of return cash or liquor, prospective candidates
creating a hype, flags and posters being strung everywhere, and rallies sounding louder than
party music. Everything has probably remained the same.
Lies, tall promises are still the flavour of the season. While very few people solve problems, the
remaining are dreaming how much money they can make. It’s only a few days when we can await the
results of the General Elections 2014. While places like Mumbai have been impacted in a positive spirit,
and Kharghar development project and Panvel development project have taken off well, remaining
India is still reeling under price rise and corruption.
It would be unfair to not speak about recent developments in India. The largest democracy is
going a steady change and with the entry of young Indian politicians, there is hope at the
end of the tunnel. We just have to ensure it’s a short tunnel. These young girls and boys are
enthusiastic, energetic and socially present to talk, share and are sensitized by the problems.
Since they understand the need for development are more conscious to provide more
towards it. Having gone places, and witnessing the developmental West function, these
educated lads and lass develop innovative ideas to put India on the global map. All they need
is encouragement from their parents and the parties themselves.
Initiatives In schools, honest politics and a good political degree should be made an
interesting course attractive to students. With awareness and the right use of power,
mountains can be moved; it requires more than just faith.
