  • 2. Front Cover: My music magazine front cover that I have produced in the production task, compared to my prelimary task front cover is much more conventional, I have improved a wide range of things and in the production front cover I have used more conventions on this front cover than I have in the prelimary front cover. Some of the conventions that are different and improved are the colours, they have improved and now look more professional and suitable to my magazine. Also the use of images and cover stories has improved, the prelimary front cover looks empty and far from conventional to its genre, where as the production task front cover does. I have learnt from my prelimary task the importance of conventions in order to appeal to the target audience.
  • 3. Contents Page: Compared to prelimary task, my conventions on my contents page has improved majorly. This is due that mainly in my music magazine I have used many more conventions and conventional features, such as more suitable images, better mise-en-scene and also the language is a lot more conventional which all appeal to my target audience. My draft contents page that was my prelimary task has barely any conventional features and wouldn’t be as appealing to my target audience. During the production of this contents page I have learnt how important the layout and content is on your page. Having the correct context and layout has a huge impact and can change how appealing your magazine is.
  • 4. Photography and Mise-en-scene used on Front Cover: In my prelimary task my mise-en-scene and photography that I used was fairly poor, I used a conventional image for the genre of the magazine but the location and props were not conventional. The photography and mise-en-scene on my music magazine is extremely better, the images that I took had been though about greatly and the location and props that I were going to use were all planned to ensure they were conventional. I made sure that the mise-en-scene and photography was better so that it had a more appealing and conventional mise-en-scene. I have used a female artist that also makes it more conventional and appeal.
  • 5. Image Improvements and Editing: After comparing my prelimary task and my music magazine the image editing that was done is not as good as the image editing that I carried out on my music magazine, in my prelimary image I barely edited the image and just left it as it is. But in my music magazine I edited the image in many different ways such as lighting, contrast and cropping them images on programmes such as Photoshop. I have edited the images in my music magazine to make sure that they are appealing to my target audience and also more conventional, this shows that I have improved and that my image editing skills have got much better.
  • 6. Layout- Front Cover: The layout on my music magazine compared to my preliminary task is much more professional looking, the preliminary task front cover looks extremely unprofessional and empty. My music magazine front cover looks more conventional to a magazine and is much more appealing to my target audience that the preliminary task front cover. This is because during the production work on my music magazine I researched and looked at many more examples of real music magazines, whereas when making my prelimary one I didn’t. My music magazine looks much better laid out than my preliminary task front cover because it has a much busier layout with brighter colours and higher quality images.
  • 7. Layout- Contents Page: The layout of my music magazine contents page, compared to my preliminary task contents page is much more professional. The overall look of it is much higher quality that my draft contents page, this is because of the better colours and the more organised conventional layout with the suitable and conventional features. The layout on my drafts page is very simple and dull which is extremely unconventional and unappealing to the target audience. This shows that I have improved majorly in my magazine layout, which shows progression throughout the production.
  • 8. Fonts- Front Cover: Comparing the prelimary front cover draft to my music magazine front cover they are extremely different, my music magazine shows that I have improved majorly and made a lot of progression. The fonts that I had chosen to use on the draft front cover are very simple and plain, original fonts that look boring. However on my music magazine I have used conventional fonts such as Serif fonts and other fonts from a range of different sources to make sure it appeals to the target audience. This improvement of fonts shows progression in being able to decide and place conventional fonts.
  • 9. Colours- Front Cover: The colours that I have used on both of these front covers are extremely different, it is clear to see that the preliminary front cover has very plain and dull colours that are not conventional and which also make them not very appealing to the target audience. The magazine is supposed to stand out through the fonts but this was does not because of the poor choice of colours. However, the colours on my music magazine are much more conventional and appealing because they are a lot more brighter and suitable for the magazine.
  • 10. Mode of Address- Front Cover: The mode of address on my preliminary task is very plain and boring and does not represent the mode of address that it conventional should, this front cover does not stand out to the audience. Where as the mode of address on my music magazine is more bright, happy and feminine which would appeal to my target audience and is also conventional because all of these features fit into the pop genre. This major improvement in the mode of address shows that I have managed to use amore conventional and suitable tone in my music magazine compared to before.
  • 11. Mode of Address- Contents page: The mode of address on my music magazine contents page compared to my preliminary contents page has improved majorly. The mode of address on my draft contents page is very plain and simple where as on my music magazine it is much brighter, bolder and a lot more feminine that the draft contents page which means that my music magazine will appeal to the target audience more. These improvements shows that I have managed to realise and understand the correct mode of address and apply it when producing my magazine.
