  • 1. KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A year ago, Western Oregon made it into the national rankings for the first time as a member ofNCAA Division II. This week, the Wolves find themselves atop the listas they are the new No. 1 team in the NABC/Division II rankings. Losses bylastweek’s top two teams,Augustana and FairmontState, moved Western Oregon to the top for the first time in school historyafter it rallied for an overtime win at Seattle Pacific Saturday. Lastweek was a thrilling week of basketball in NCAA Division II, but also one where five of the top nine teams suffered defeats to creating a significantshuffle throughoutthe poll this week. Wheeling Jesuitmoved up to second and West Liberty, who knocked off No. 2 FairmontState before Wheeling Jesuitdid so on Saturday, vaulted over Lincoln Memorial to third. LMU had an impressive win of its own at Wingate over the weekend to stay undefeated in the South Atlantic Conference;it is the only team in Division II currently with an unblemished conference record. Augustana’s loss atNorthern State Friday was followed by a win at MSU Moorhead the next night, keeping the Vikings at No. 5. UC San Diego moved up to sixth this week and Queens (N.C.) advanced to seventh, justahead of FairmontState after its setbacks to top-six teams a week ago. Chico State and Fort Lewis moved into the top 10 this week in the next two spots,with MSU Moorhead landing atNo. 11. Barry moved up five spots to 12th and Bellarmine fell to 13th after Saturday’s loss at Drury. Cal Poly Pomona checks in at No. 14 and Saginaw Valley State moved up six spots to 15th . West Chester is 16th this week, followed by Wisconsin-Parkside,Kentucky Wesleyan,Saint Anselm and Angelo State. The final five teams in this week’s poll are Ashland, Seattle Pacific, NorthwestMissouri State,Ferris State and Midwestern State. The NCAA will release its firstregional rankings ofthe 2015-16 season on Wednesday,Feb. 17.
