  • 1. Popular Hindi Books by Famous Authors 2015 As Hindi is the official language of India, the nation has given birth to several authors who are considered as the pioneers of Hindi literature. Their writings have found to be contemporary and revolutionary in reading. They have written books which are considered as classics till today. Though, many people do not follow literary works closely in native Indian languages, it is important for every book lover or a writing pro to go through these works of Hindi language to explore their style and taste as well as knowledge of the dialect. The list of popular Hindi books online goes on below.  Godaan by Premchand It is a novel written by Munshi Premchand and was also released in English under the name of The Gift of a Cow. Considered as a modern Indian literature epic, the story of this book revolves around the socio-economically deprived section of the society that faces exploitation at the hands of the village community. It is about a strong desire of a poor peasant to have a cow and the related situations that ensue.
  • 2.  Madhubala by Harivansh Rai Bachchan This edition is unique as it is a highly metaphorical work containing 135 verses including four lines each. The book is known to have philosophical undertones and Sufi incantations. This work is a cornerstone in neo-romanticism wave that swept Hindi literature. A striking thing about this work is that every verse ends with the word Madhubala itself. The poet delves deep into the complexities of life through four things that hold importance for him namely wine, its server, a cup or glass to serve and bar where it is offered.  Tamas by Bhisham Sahni This tale is all about how a malicious mischief monger convinces an unsuspecting skinner to kill a pig and uses the carcass to hurt Muslim sentiments to trigger Hindu-Muslim riots on a large scale. Dealing with the theme of partition, Tamas, meaning evil, refers to the grotesque atmosphere during 1947. Its plot comes off like a storm to destroy everything that comes its way. A symbol of stark reality, the writing weaves emotions of fear, anger, hatred, enthusiasm, pity, love and anxiety around the communal tensions.
  • 3.  Kurukshetra by Ramdhari Singh Dinkar It is an epic that provides ideas and thoughts on war and making peace. The poem reveals the heroic side of India in oblivion. This Hindi novel known for its depth of imagination, vision and thought turns out to be a modern classic.  Vaishali Ki Nagarvadhu by Acharya Chatursen The tale goes back to fifth century B.C. in India when the picture was painted with fine strokes of fantasy, history, politics, love, war and culture through multiple characters who interlink stories in an enchanting web. It opens with the saga of Ambapali who is a courtesan of Vaishali. Though, the book keeps on shifting its focus to sub-stories of political and social importance but Ambapali remains the leitmotif. You will be intrigued till the end as the author has kept a mystery for others to figure out in the end.
