  • 2. 1st Person Narration A first person narration is written using “I” and “we” When you write in first person, you’re talking about yourself. Examples:! I went to English class. ! • 3. 2nd Person Narration A second person narration is written using “you” When you write in second person, you’re talking to the reader. Examples: ! You went to the movies with Malcolm.! Your dad made you dinner yesterday. ! You and Dani are best friends. * Very few books are written this way, if it is, it is meant to make the reader the main character.
  • 4. 3rd Person Narration Third person narration is written using “he” or “she” When you write in third person, you are writing about other people without mentioning yourself. Examples:! He made a very difficult decision. ! Allie and Jodie created rival tribes. ! The main character matured over the course of the novel. * In a story with 3rd person narration, the narrator is not a character in the story.
