Following is what Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar told Indian Express about Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi in an interview yesterday:Speaking about Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar C M Nitish Kumar, Pawar said that Kumar had focused on law and order rather than on development. But he said Kumar opposed development or new technology in agriculture in Bihar, pointing to the Bihar government’s opposition to a GM crop field trial. On the other hand, Modi welcomes any experiment if it would bring development to the state, Pawar said, but added that his remarks were limited to development work.It should be noted that Pawar’s daughter had recently visited Ahmedabad to witness various development project in the city. She had also praised Modi’s developmental work. Several Maharashtra leaders including the Congress Chief Minister there, Raj Thackeray, Ramdas Athwale etc have appreciated the development work in Gujarat at various occasions.Pawar blamed the weakness of the government for the decline in the stature of democratic institutions. Pawar also made public his unhappiness with the hurdles created at the Lavasa project by Environment Ministry. Pawar also praised Gujarat CM Narendra Modi saying that he welcomes any experiment that could add to the development of the state.
