May 3-9, 2015: Calgary Events North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week is a partnership between Canada, the United States and Mexico that highlights the importance of reducing injuries and illness in the workplace and in the community. Through a series of engaging events, NAOSH Week focuses the attention of employers, employees, and the general public on the value of health and safety. Tuesday, April 28: International Day of Mourning On April 28, people across Canada stop to remember workers killed, injured or disabled on the job. With deep sadness, we confirm Alberta lost 169 men and women to workplace injury or illness in 2014. Attend Memorial Garden and Park near Alberta Construction Safety Association #101, 292060 Wagon Wheel Link, Rocky View, AB Saturday, May 2: Steps for Life This 5-km walk raises funds for Threads of Life programs and services for families impacted by workplace tragedy. It takes place at the Fish Creek Park – Glenfield Area “A” 10404 Bannister Rd. SE in Calgary. Registration $15 per walker opens at 9 am. The Keynote Speaker is at 10 am and the Walk starts at 11:00 am. There will be a BBQ after the walk. Pre-registration is available Fri. May 1st - CF Construction at 4:30pm. Monday, May 4: NAOSH Week Proclamation This exciting event features speakers Carol Henke, Public Information Officer at the Calgary Fire Department, & Glen Rowley, Calgary Police Services, Partners in Crime Prevention! The Proclamation will be read by Marco Civitarese, Chief Building Inspector for the City of Calgary. Monday, May 4: NAOSH Week Free Movie Night Watch, Learn & Be Entertained! Join us for a movie that will move you, make you gasp, maybe even jump. Watch a drama about the world’s Deadliest Industrial Disaster: Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain. Join us

Tuesday, May 5 to Friday, May 7: “Safety Rocks BBQ’s!” This dynamic series of events take place at high schools across the Calgary area. The events include interactive safety displays for the students to raise awareness of their rights and obligations in OH&S. Students are provided with a BBQ lunch courtesy of the CRSC. Friday, May 8th: “Calgary Bucket Brigade!” Prizes for the winners! Get your team ready to participate in a water relay! Experience how Firefighters used to put out fires with buckets of water! Get your team together and meet at Stephen Avenue Mall 315 8 Ave SW Calgary, AB. Race starts at 11:30 in front of Banker’s Hall. 6 people per team . Get your competition colors together. $25.00 per team to participate. Prize for the winners! Saturday, May 9: Disaster Alley Join us at Calgary's largest Emergency Preparedness Event. Meet your everyday heroes, Police, Firefighters, Ambulance Services and More! Exhibitors at the stadium educate guests about what they can do to prepare for an emergency or disaster! Be there at McMahon Stadium 1817 Crowchild Trail NW, Calgary, Alberta Wednesday, May 21: The NAOSH Week Conference & Trade Show. This fantastic conference includes four speaker sessions, a keynote speaker with a focus on OH&S in Professional Sports, luncheon and a trade show featuring 25 exhibitors.
