After 16 years in Catering and Hospitality, I decided on a life change and started at the bottom as Customer Representative at Hastings Direct working in Sales. Within a year, I had been promoted twice up to the role of Team Leader and transformed an underperforming team into one of the highest achieving Sales Teams in the history of the company. I have also been responsible for several projects, the most significant being to develop automated scorecards for both the Sales and Retention departments; freeing up many hours of Team Leader time and making data more accessible and easier to spot trends. I was in charge of running 3 restaurants, 4 bars and a large conference facility. I was also responsible for dealing with the large number of weddings at the venue from initial enquiry through to the actual events. I was regularly duty manager of the site, and was responsible for running the entire facility. I was also involved with the creation of menus for the restaurants and the banqueting side of the business. In 2002, I was heavily involved the planning, construction, opening and development of a new bistro restaurant. 1999 to 2001: Spirit Group Plc, Nationwide Operations Manager For the first year I ran a variety of public houses and wine bars, troubleshooting for head office and getting venues running successfully and in line with company policy. For the next 14 months I was operations manager at a 3,000 capacity nightclub in Cardiff with a turnover of £3.8 Million. I was involved not only with the day to day running of this huge venue (staff hiring, training and development, stocktaking and ordering, cashier duties and book keeping) but also promoting the club and organising special events with promoters and dealing with international artists and DJs. I also organised my own monthly event at the club, which turned out to be one of the busiest nights we had.
