Nathaniel Weathers 2 • IP networking and routing • Transport networking (SONET, DS1/3,DACS, etc.) • PSTN call routing • ISDN, SS7 and SIP protocols • Carrier support working/troubleshooting (SONET, DS1/3,DACS, etc.) with other carriers. • Ethernet • Performing remote hands requests for Colo customers within the Peerless Data Center Level III Communication, Chicago, IL 2005 - 2013 Field Services Tech III  As a Tech III I have worked nights maintaining the L3 metro network where I was responsible for over 150 sites. Also my role here has encompassed me managing one of Level 3’s most profitable sites in the country with over 30 locations within a single site from equipment installs, equipment augments, physical circuit reroutes, installation of fiber panels as well as panels for the install of copper and electrical circuits. I have also had to manage contractors and provide site access. Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and circuits. Shipping and receiving parts and ordering site materials. I was also assigned a company vehicle with which I have maintained for the past 4 ½ years with no accidents or traffic violations.  Isolate network trouble conditions and implement network recovery procedures.  Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7), TCP/IP (routers/higher-layer protocols), and Outside Plant fiber 1000M/100M/10M optical and electrical circuits.  Monitor data and voice networks for areas of potential problems implementing quality improvements. Engage team members when necessary to correct or improve network performance.  Turn up and maintain Level 3 Communications’ Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, 10Gige Lan and10Gig circuits. Experienced with terminating power and grounding equipment, slotting of equipment cards and terminating cabling per order. (Cat5, Fiber, etc…)  Troubleshooting and performing maintenace on Level Three’s Critical Infrastructure equipment such as Liebert HVAC units, rooftop drycooler, ups and backup power maintenance, ie UPS power, Automatic transfer switch systems. SBC, Rosemont, IL 2004 - 2005 Network Services Manager (Contractor)  Performed the test and turn-up and provisioning of ATM and Frame Relay circuits across SBC’s data network utilizing TBS/Metasolv, circuit manager and Tirks database.  Coordinated remotely with local exchange carriers, long-haul carriers and customer meets to resolve network trouble. Circuit routing and maintenance was a part of our daily process as well as escalating within the parameters of company M&P’s to resolve network trouble issues and to minimize down time of customer products.  Managed global customer accounts resolving billing discrepancies via Telegence billing system. L.P. Network, South Holland, IL 2001- 2008 Cable/PC Technician Part Time  Performed Installation, test and termination of CAT-5 and CAT-3 UTP. Punching cable down within teclo closet to a 110 and 66 block.
  • 3. Nathaniel Weathers 3 Universal Access, Chicago, IL 2000 - 2001 Network Engineer  Lead the development of training M&Ps for basic knowledge of the workings of ATM, Frame Relay, DWDM and OCN circuitry. Identified opportunities and recommended solutions for improving the usage of network resource efficiency and effectiveness. Performed site survey of UTX locations to ensure that power and HVAC specs were up to code.  Developed testing procedures for newly installed circuits.  Assisted in the implementation of test plans (including cases for functionality, integrity, and stress testing; and definition of test methodologies and test strategy); knowledgeable of multiple test platforms, including evaluation of test equipment and designing of network circuits.  Trained at the Nortel facility on Optera 3500 and the Optera Connect DX switch and the Light Brigade fiber facility in Tukwila, WA where certificates were received for testing and installing single/multimode fiber using fusion, mechanical and pigtails.
