  • 5. Security and Safety Excerpt As a designer I would express my duty to Ms. Kojima to incorporate the new entries on the “Objective List”. This list justifies the laws governing the security and safety provided by the ADA Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG). The ADAAG was established by the Justice Department defining the requirement for existing and new construction. o “Standards and codes that affect how a house is designed, it is important to determine what standards and regulations may affect a property at the beginning of the design process. These standards and codes may conflict, and the local code officials should determine what is acceptable in their jurisdiction”.

  • 38. Gestalt’s Theory
  • 39. Each room design was developed with the theory of well-being related to the client’s need. Color schemes were established based on art inspirations that emotionally stimulated and at the same time comforted the homeowner. Overall design transitioned smoothly through each room with the feeling of history and new beginnings. Gestalt’s Theory Figure/Ground:The focusat any moment isthe figure; everythingthat isnot figure isground. Similarity: share visual characteristicssuchas shape, size, color, texture, or valuewill be seenas belonging together inthe viewer’smind. Proximity: objectsor shapesthat are close to one another appear to formgroups. Closure: applieswhenwe tend to see complete figuresevenwhenpart ofthe informationismissing. Good Continuation: formofa line, anedge, or a directionfromone formto another createsa fluid connectionamong compositional parts Symmetry /Order: in“symmetry”the viewer should not be giventhe impressionthat somethingis out ofbalance, or missing, or wrong and/or “order” withconnotationofstructure, consistency and stability.
