It’s from one of four hives at the end ofThe PearTree’s 7.5 acre gardens, each home to 50,000 bees. The hives are part of the ‘natural area’ of the hotel’s gardens, which also includes a wildflower meadow and vineyard. Thanks to the lack of arable farming and its associated pesticides nearby, the honey has a really natural taste that’s reminiscent of the honey you used to have at your grandmother’s.There’s also a hint of lime which comes from the lime tree just next to the hives. We serve the honey at breakfast and occasionally as part of a dish on our new a la carte lunch and dinner menus. For full details and current offers, visit www.prideofbritainhotels.com/the_pear_tree_at_purton Lords of the Manor Upper Slaughter, Gloucestershire New exquisite gardens of the North Cotswolds The Cotswolds area is famous for its gardens, not least those at Lords of the Manor which were designed by Julie Toll (a Chelsea Gold medal winner who has also designed at 10 Downing Street). The gardens, which include a bog and walled garden, are now beautifully maintained by Sarah Burroughes (who loves to meet guests and has been known to pass on the odd envelope of seeds). The Lords’ three night Exquisite Gardens package includes admission tickets to Kiftsgate Court Garden (a celebrated creation of three generations of women gardeners) and Bourton House (a rising star with inspirational planting), as well as equally exquisite dinners in our Michelin starred restaurant on two nights and a Kiftsgate Rose delivered to your (UK) door after your stay.
