WHEN: 28TH NOVEMBER 2014 WHERE: ST MARGARET’S CHURCH, WHALLEY ROAD, WHALLEY RANGE, MANCHESTER M16 8AE As part of the international 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Violence campaign, Manchester female group Moonrise Collective is staging a pioneering event: an evening of discussion, music, poetry and art, all based around the theme of gender-violence. As well as guest speakers from the charities Freedom From Torture and Victim Support, an NVC (Non- violent communication) practitioner will talk about how NVC can be used effectively in situations characterised by conflict. Discussions will be interspersed with sonic and visual entertainment from an eclectic mix of all-female performers: Rosalie 23, Perkie, Vieka Plays and Rachele Whatever will provide a vibrant artistic backdrop to this stimulating and informative evening. “Events are designed to raise awareness of gender-violence as a human rights issue, strengthen local work around violence against women, and provide a forum in which organisers and attendees can share and develop new, effective strategies of action.” (Women’s global Leadership Institute) There is no entrance fee although donations will be accepted. You are welcome to bring your own alcohol for a small corkage fee.
