MICHAEL BLUMENTHAL TO BE CO-KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT 1ST SCRAP TIRE
CONFERENCE IN NEW ZEALAND
Upper Nyack, NY. April 29, 2015 – Michael Blumenthal, President of Marshay, Inc.
and Glenn Maidment, President of the Tire & Rubber Association of Canada will be
the keynote speakers at the inaugural New Zealand Tyre Industry Summit. The
conference will take place in Auckland, New Zealand on June 2nd and 3rd.
“It’s an honor to be one of the keynote speakers, especially at the first scrap tire
conference in New Zealand. It’s also an honor to share the podium with Mr.
Maidment, who also has a wealth of experience on this topic. There is no doubt that
the collective experiences gained in the United States and Canada, both positive and
negative, can provide very useful insight and information for any new scrap tire
management program”, stated Michael Blumenthal, President of Marshay, Inc.
At the Tyre Summit, Blumenthal will participate in three panels: “Global Overview:
Legislative and Regulatory Environment”, “End-of-life tyre management: What can
New Zealand learn from other countries at this phase of stewardship”, and “Rubber
Recycling Standards: The case for global harmonization” where Blumenthal will
present information on the standards for scrap tires developed in both the United
States and Europe.
“The management of scrap tires is truly a global concern. It matters little where the
tires are. What does matter is understanding the system in which they are to be
managed and to devise a management scheme well suited for that environment.
Summits like this are the ideal place for the discussions necessary to develop these
schemes,” Blumenthal continued.
