  • 2. The Old Town of Vilnius (Vilniaus senamiestis), one ofthe largest surviving medieval old towns in CentralEurope. It is a place where some of Europes greatestarchitectural styles gothic, renaissance, baroqueand neoclassical - stand side by side and complementeach other. In 1994 the Vilnius Old Town wasincluded in the UNESCO World Heritage List inrecognition of its universal value and originality.
  • 3. The St. Anns church (Šv. Onosbažnyčia) is in Lithuaniancapital – Vilnius. It was startedto build in 1495 and finished in1500. The church is more than500 years old. It is the lategothic style.The church wasdestroyed by a fire in 1419.According to a well-knownlegend, Emperor Napoleon,after seeing the church,expressed a wish to carry thechurch home with himto Paris in the palm of his hand.

The hill of crosses was usedas a place for Lithuanians to pray for peace, for theircountry, and for the loved ones they had lost duringthe Wars of Independence. Lithuanians used it todemonstrate their allegiance to their originalidentity, religion and heritage.

Itssouthern portion lies with in Kaliningrad Oblast,Russia and its northern within southwesternLithuania. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Siteshared by the two countries.The largest town onthe spit is Nida in Lithuania.
