Transcripts - Presidential rack guide

  • 1. Configuration may be not cleared before you from previous candidate. You may reset the entire rack using the tools in the putty connection manager available on the desktop. Default Username/Password for UCS and Nexus 1k is admin/cisco Default Username/Password for all other devices is cisco/cisco You do not have access to admin account on Nexus and MDS switches. Access to specific commands is restricted. You cannot save configuration and reload boxes. However you can manually reset the devices using putty connection manager. All devices in Datacenter are UPS protected and you don’t have to worry about power outage. Taking into account limitations, some things are pre-configured for you: On Nexus 5K  N5K-1 is in NPV mode.  Port-channel load balancing mode is pre-configured to src-dst-port.  Storage/FC ports are on expansion module.  Fabricpath feature-set is not supported, so you can instead use Classical Ethernet and vPC.  Use the tool in Putty Connection manager to reset the device; it will restore the device to initial state. On MDS  Though you don’t have access to admin account, you can configure everything that you will need to configure.  Use the tool in Putty Connection manager to reset the device; it will restore the device to initial state.
  • 2. On UCS  You have access to admin account; you can configure everything via UCS Manager.  Use the tool in Putty Connection manager to restore UCS to initial state. (Please make sure you have logged out from FI-A/FI-B console).  UCS (C-Series) nic1&2 are not connected to Nexus 2k(FEX) so you will not see F logging on N5Ks via FEXs. FC Storage  It’s preconfigured for you on storage side, Refer to the table for more information: Storage Objects Fabric-A FC Target WWPN (LUN 0) Fabric-B FC Target WWPN (LUN0) Use show floggi database on DC1-MDS1 for VSAN A Use show floggi database on DC2-MDS1 for VSAN B WWPN range you can use for VSAN A 20:00:00:25:B5:10:10:01 – 04 WWPN range you can use for VSAN B 20:00:00:25:B5:10:10:0A – 0D ***Other WWPN ranges might not work. On Nexus 7K  You have full access; you can create any VDCs as required but make sure you run “license grace-period”.  Since we have only one Nexus 7k with Sup1; you can have maximum of 4 VDCs as a time. o While practicing DC1 side create DC1-N7K-1(admin VDC), DC1-N7K-3 and DC1-N7K-4. o While practicing DC2 side delete DC1-N7K-4 and create DC2-N7K-3 and DC2-N7K-4. o For Storage VDC; delete DC2-N7K-4 and create DC2-N7K-2(Storage VDC). o For OTV, you require 2 VDCs; one on each side of DC. If you need 4 VDCs than use DC1-N7K-1(admin VDC), DC1-N7K-3, DC2- N7K-3 and DC2-N7K-1.  You can practice Fabricpath feature-set.  Do not save any configuration; a reload will take your N7K to initial state.
  • 3. All Mgmt0 interfaces are connected to Cisco Catalyst switch (Which you don’t have access to). You can connect to all devices via SSH only and the shortcut is created for you in Putty Connection manager.
