RPO INC. SELECTS RIVERWOOD SOLUTIONS FOR SUPPLY CHAIN DESIGN SERVICES
Riverwood Solutions’ Hybrid Outsourced Services Team (HOST ) Model Delivers Flexible, Cost-
Effective Supply Chain Design and Management Services
MENLO PARK, CA – February 10, 2009 – Riverwood Solutions, the innovator in managed
supply chain services, today announced that RPO, Inc., a leader in touch screen technology, has
selected Riverwood Solutions for supply chain design services. RPO chose Riverwood for its
Hybrid Outsourced Services Team (HOST ) model, which enables OEMs to drive a lower total
supply chain cost while reducing internal overhead.
“We chose Riverwood because of the overall breadth and depth of their team. Their expertise in
operations and supply chain management is second to none, particularly in the low cost
manufacturing centers of the world,” said Dr. Malcolm J. Thompson, Chairman and CEO of RPO.
Traditionally, companies have had two options for supply chain management – manage
everything internally or rely on electronic manufacturing services (EMS) partners – neither of
which has been successful in creating cost-effective, highly responsive supply chains. The
Riverwood HOST model enables companies in a range of industries, from consumer products
and Smart Phones, to semiconductors and green technology, to strip cost out of the supply chain
with a hybrid approach to supply chain design, implementation and management.
“RPO recognizes the competitive advantage to be realized by developing a world class supply
chain for their innovative touch screen products and has turned to Riverwood’s HOST model
for full supply chain design services,” said Ron Keith, COO of Riverwood Solutions. “The
combination of Riverwood’s technical expertise, operational expertise and refined processes
enables our team to create significant value for RPO’s business model without adding overhead.”
RPO, Inc. (www.rpo.biz) is a privately-held firm based in San Jose, Calif., Sydney and Canberra,
Australia. The firm has developed Digital Waveguide Technology (DWT) and holds all key patents
on the products and process. RPO’s DWT technology is available for a wide-range of sizes and
systems, such as cell phones, PDAs, tablets, industrial displays and more. DWT does not require
touch panel overlay and is based on the interruption of invisible light beams, which delivers
benefits over other touch screen technologies, including improved screen clarity, higher display
brightness and extended battery life. DWT provides multiple touch capability and accuracy in
detection and position, all at a very cost-effective price point.
