  • 11. Roads Funds have been secured toward the upgrading, and rehabilitation of various roads in Sofala, Manica and Tete Provinces Railway Beira Corridor have two main railway lines. The Machipanda line linking Zimbabwe (Zambia and DRC) to Beira Port. The Sena Line linking Beira Port to Moatize (Coal Mines), Marromeu (sugar plants) and Malawi (not operational). Biofuel The project is expected to generate 13 – 15 MW of extra power and to be sold within Mozambique Port – Cornelder • Car Terminal • Sugar Terminal • Mineral Terminal • New Dredger with a capacitity of 2.500.000 m3 per annum is now under construction. To be Delivered 2013 . Mining Tete coal reserves are among the largest in the World. Vale is planning to invest more than $ 1.9 bn. Dry port definition Dry port is a freight terminal situated in the hinterland servicing an industrial/ commercial region connected with one or several ports with rail- or road transport and offers specialized. Normally the dry port multimodal oriented terminal and has all logistics services and facilities, which are needed for shipping and forwarding agents in a port. Functions of dry ports: • Direct and easy connection to the port by rail or road; • Intermodal connection; and • Customs clearance services. Benefits of dry ports: • Increase the effectiveness of the transport chain; • Help to develop hinterland areas; • Provide cheaper extra space; • Strengthen multimodal solutions; • Help to minimize traffic bottlenecks, and • Generates employment
