  • 2. Introduction • Vikram Katju is a cancer researcher with experience performing next generation whole genome analysis, a process that involves comparing data sequences of tumor samples with matched normal samples from cancer patients. Outside of his work in medical research, Vikram Katju has worked to better the lives of individuals who stutter by sharing his childhood experiences with stuttering as well as effective methods for decreasing its occurrence. Organizations like the National Stuttering Association (NSA) provide people with resources to improve their quality of life.
  • 3. National Stuttering Association • To help people who stutter connect and learn about their condition, the NSA hosts a multi-day conference each year that includes workshops, keynote speakers, special events, and live and silent auctions. People of all ages are welcome to attend, and the crowd usually includes families who are affected by stuttering as well as professionals in the field of speech-language pathology. The conference attracts nearly 1,000 attendees each year, bringing together people of all different backgrounds who share a common bond. The event aims to help those who stutter understand that they are not alone in their experiences. The next NSA Conference is in Atlanta, Georgia, from July 6-10, 2016.
